Latest Project

Here's a picture of one of my latest sewing projects, a dress for a very special little girl's second birthday. It's made out of a man's dress shirt, and was really fun to do! It would be much easier (and probably better fitting, too) if you had a little girl available to measure while you were making it, but it still didn't turn out too badly in my opinion.

My Prayers Have Been Answered

Rick brought this home from the grocery store a few days ago, and I felt this exciting development worthy of one of my semi-annual blog posts.

The First Annual Nice Nice Holiday Extravaganza

Dear readers,
Since we are in giving spirits these days, we thought that we would treat to you a sampling of the holiday light displays in our neighborhood. Enjoy.

To those of you who celebrate it, Merry Christmas! To those of you who don't, we hope that you had a nice day (or two) off work.

Sincerely,
The Management

Exhibit A

This house is in our development. Apparently, it isn't against the Association rules to have an eight foot tall nutcracker in your front yard. These people also have a large inflatable turkey in their yard for Thanksgiving.

Exhibit B

This house is across the street from our development. Note the light-up Nativity scene to the left.

The Grand Finale

This place is on the way to the grocery store from our house, and it is so awesome that it deserves to be viewed from several angles. We've actually never gone by the front of the house before today, so we decided to take a look. It turns out that they have little signs advertising the radio frequency that they broadcast on, and the lights are synched with the music played over the air. They also have a website with an FAQ section and tips on light display etiquette.

Five Facts

Thanks to Kate for the prompt!

Number One
I like to bake. Not cook. Bake. I like to measure stuff. I'm told that in cooking measuring is not so important. That bugs me.

Number Two
I really have not been blogging enough to justify having a blog. That will change, I promise. Stay tuned for the first annual Nice Nice super holiday extravaganza post. You will not be sorry.

Number Three
My favorite color is blue. As we slowly decorate our house, I am finding that I have to resist the urge to paint every room some shade of blue. We already have two blue rooms and a blue couch. Seriously.

Number Four
I also like to sew. This probably has something to do with the measuring thing. I also like to say that I made stuff myself. Unfortunately, I am only good at sewing straight lines, so to date my completed projects consist of binding wedding invitations and making curtains for our bedroom. There are lots of more interesting (and more difficult) projects on deck. I'll try to report back on some of those as they are finished.

Number Five
I really want a dog.

You're it, Terri!
